I shot this story for the Chronicle about the ongoing struggles of the Mid Market area of San Francisco and the promised revitalization that doesn’t seem to be happening. Ironically the first homicide of 2012 happened right in front of a proposed SFPD substation on 6th St. who’s opening has been repeatedly pushed back due to a legal battle over funding. I also shot some photos of Kurt Abney, the owner and chef of Dottie’s True Blue Cafe that opened recently in place of another failed restaurant and might be destined to succumb to the same fate as most businesses in the area due to extremely high crime rates.
